Who you are dealing with
Tech Sidekick is operated by Tech Sidekick LLC, PLACEHOLDER — registered mailing address, Utah. You can reach a person at [email protected]. We provide service to customers in the United States only.
What a membership is
A membership is remote technical help for a flat recurring fee. You may contact us as often as you like within the plan you are on, and we will help with the kinds of things described on what’s covered. Membership does not include hardware, third-party software licences, internet or phone service, or anything else with its own separate bill. We do not resell those and we do not mark them up.
We do not promise that every problem can be solved, only that we will look at it, tell you honestly what we find, and tell you when the right answer is somebody else.
How quickly we answer
Greg is our AI. He answers on every plan, at any hour, and every one of his replies is labelled as AI. The times below are for a reply from a person, and they are measured in business time, Monday to Friday. Anything sent outside those hours starts its clock on the next business day. We publish response times only — we do not promise a completion time, because how long a fix takes is not always ours to control.
- Lookout — Greg answers immediately. Questions answered by a person are not included at this plan, but anything involving money, credentials, urgency or account access is still routed to a person.
- Sidekick — a person replies within the same business day.
- On Call — a person replies within the same business day.
- Right Hand — a person replies within 4 business hours.
- In House — a person replies within 1 business hour. In House also has an after-hours line: you decide what counts as an emergency, and a person responds within two hours, seven days a week, between 7am and 10pm Mountain. A message sent at 2am gets an immediate answer from Greg; the two-hour clock for a person starts at 7am.
Plans and prices
Every plan is billed monthly. There is no annual option, no introductory price, no setup fee, and no minimum term.
- Lookout — $29 per month. Covers one person.
- Sidekick — $59 per month. Covers your whole household.
- On Call — $199 per month. Covers you, plus 2 others. Additional people are $49 per month each, prorated when added or removed.
- Right Hand — $599 per month. Covers you, plus 8 others. Additional people are $49 per month each, prorated when added or removed.
- In House — $1,499 per month. Covers you, plus 14 others. Additional people are $49 per month each, prorated when added or removed. In House is available by application. We issue a private payment link on approval; nothing is charged before that.
Prices are in US dollars and exclude any applicable sales tax, which is shown before you pay. We will give you at least 30 days’ notice by email before any price change affecting your membership, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
Your website, if your plan includes one
Every business plan includes a website that we build, host and maintain, or — if you already have a site — a website audit instead. It is one or the other, not both. Discovery happens in your first month and the site is delivered by month three.
The site becomes yours free after twelve months: we transfer the site and the domain into your name, and hosting and maintenance continue for as long as your membership does. You can buy it out earlier at the price listed for your plan, which is the same transfer, sooner. If you leave at any point, the domain transfers to you free.
Maintenance means hosting, security and platform updates, uptime monitoring, and content changes within the page count and structure you already have. A redesign, new sections, or additional pages is a new build. Change requests are batched and published weekly rather than handled one at a time, and each plan includes a set number of revision rounds.
Automatic renewal, and how to stop it
Every membership is monthly and renews automatically on the same date each month, charged to the payment method you used, until you cancel. You confirm this in writing on the payment page before any charge is taken.
You can cancel at any time, without calling anyone and without explaining why. There is no contract, no minimum term, no retention call and no survey. Cancelling stops the next charge; your membership then runs to the end of the month you have already paid for. We do not charge a cancellation fee, and we do not refund part of a month you have already started — the guarantee below is the exception. If you email us asking to be cancelled, we do it on the spot rather than sending you somewhere.
The 30-day guarantee
If your first 30 days are not what you expected, tell us and we will refund what you paid. This applies to every plan and to your initial purchase only, not to later renewals.
Changing plans
Moving up a plan takes effect immediately and is prorated, so you pay the difference for the time left in the period you have already paid for. Moving down takes effect on your next billing date, and you keep the plan you paid for until then.
Work outside your plan
Unlimited means unlimited questions, not unlimited hours. If a piece of work is going to take more than roughly 30 minutes of hands-on time, we quote it before we start and you decide. That work is Sidekick Time at $175 an hour, less the discount your plan carries. You will never receive an invoice for work you did not agree to first.
If you buy one of our one-time services and then start a membership within 30 days, we credit 50% of what you paid for it against the membership.
What a membership does not cover
Hardware repair, in-person visits, calls to your vendors on your behalf, custom software, bookkeeping, legal or tax advice, recovering accounts we were never given access to, data recovery from a failed drive, after-hours emergencies, and anything unlawful. Where a job falls outside what we do, we will say so and help you work out who to ask instead.
Gifts
A gift membership is a single payment for one year of Sidekick. It does not renew, the recipient is never asked for a payment method, and there is nothing for them to cancel. We email the recipient on the date the buyer chooses and not before. The 30-day guarantee runs from the date of purchase and belongs to the buyer.
Access to your devices and accounts
We will never ask you for a password. If you send us one anyway, we delete it, tell you that we deleted it, and ask you to change it. Where a service lets you grant access properly, you grant it and you can withdraw it in one click. Where it does not, we write out the steps and you are the one who enters the password.
We do not accept banking or payment processor logins, anything containing protected health information, or access to any account you could not afford to have compromised. Remote sessions on your computer happen only with your permission, at the time, and you can watch the whole thing and end it whenever you like.
Where AI is used, and where it is not
A person is responsible for every answer that reaches you and reviews it before it is sent. Alerts, monthly briefings, service reminders and billing notices are generated automatically. Audits, tune-ups, reports, kits and plans are drafted with AI and reviewed before delivery. Scam Check answers are generated by AI and are labelled as such on every response.
A Scam Check answer will never tell you that something is safe. The most it will say is that nothing suspicious was found, and you should not act on anything involving money, credentials or account access on that basis alone. Anything you send that mentions a payment, a credential, urgency or account access is routed to a person regardless of plan — as is any call, any confirmed scam, and anything financial.
What we ask of you
Use the membership for yourself, your household, or the people covered by your plan — not as a shared account for a wider group than the plan describes. Do not ask us to do anything unlawful. If your use is so far outside what a plan describes that it is no longer reasonable, we will talk to you about it before we do anything else.
If we are not the right fit
We may end a membership with 30 days’ notice and a pro-rata refund of anything you have paid for time you will not receive. We would tell you why.
Limits
TODO(braeden): counsel to supply — limitation of liability, disclaimer of warranties, indemnity, force majeure, governing law (Utah), dispute resolution, and how changes to this agreement are notified. This section is deliberately empty rather than filled with borrowed language.
